A succulent piece of meat should have a lean part and a fatty part to be perfectly juicy and tender, and that’s what the T-Bone Steak has. We will teach you how to cook it at Comedera.
In addition to being one of the grill masters’ favorite cuts, this steak is characterized by having a “T” shaped bone in the middle, dividing two different pieces of meat: the tenderloin and the strip steak.

This recipe is usually made in the simplest way, with just coarse salt and pepper, but I’ll give you some tips to take the seasoning to another level.

What should you know about the T-Bone Steak?
- This cut of meat is so popular that in the United States and the United Kingdom there are restaurants specialized in preparing this piece of beef in different exquisite ways. These places are called “Steak Houses” and the people who visit them know they will eat one of the best cuts of meat of their lives.
- The T-Bone Steak is cut from the lower part of the cattle’s loin to obtain the two pieces of meat: the tenderloin and the strip steak. This is the most recognized and requested form in the world of cattle breeding. However, some people prefer the cut to be from the upper part of the loin to get only the strip steak.
- The thickness of the T-Bone Steak is vital, it could even be said that it is a ritual, and if the proportions are not right, the magic of the meat will disappear. In the United States, they usually request it to be 2.56 centimeters thick, while the English prefer it to be 3 cm.
Is the T-Bone only cooked on the grill?
No, there are different ways to cook it, but without a doubt, grilling or barbecuing is the most common. At Comedera, we will teach you other techniques to achieve a great T-Bone Steak.
- Pan-fried: Season your T-Bone Steak, heat your pan with extra virgin olive oil, and cook it for 4 minutes on each side. The important thing is to sear it perfectly and get a juicy piece of meat.
- On a Rotisserie: Preheat your rotisserie to 290 degrees Celsius, grease the grate, and place the T-Bone Steak. In this technique, we’ll leave it for 10 minutes, but after 5 minutes, we’ll turn it over to get that unique crust on both sides.
- Roasted: In this technique, we’ll use two methods to cook our T-Bone Steak. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Then heat a pan with two tablespoons of olive oil to sear our meat, just 3 minutes per side. Then take a tray, grease it, and place the T-Bone to put it in the oven for 7 minutes to achieve that perfect roast.
TIP: Regarding the seasoning, you can use the same one we taught you for grilling or barbecuing. You can also get creative and add other spices.
What side dish can I eat with my T-Bone Steak?
This spectacular, juicy, and classic cut of meat can be perfectly accompanied by rustic potatoes made on the same grill where you cooked your steak, so all the flavors it released are absorbed by the potatoes. You can also fry them to be crispy, which makes them an ideal side dish.
